LYNN ANN MORRISSEY STRIKE
On September 26th, 2016 the Good Lord carried Lynn Ann Morrissey Strike home. Lynn was born in Cohoes, New York to the late William T. Dee and Agnes Fitzgerald Morrissey. She graduated from Albany Academy for Girls and from Sweet Briar College with a B.S. in Political Science. She then moved to Washington DC to work for the Federal Government. There she met and married Thomas A. Strike in June of 1958, after he received his PhD in Medical Physiology from Georgetown Medical School. Lynn was a member of Holy Redeemer Parish for 55 years. Faith, family, and being Irish defined her life.
Lynn is survived by her husband of 58 years and six children: Anne Carter (Michael), Mary Goldstein (Jay), Kathleen Hayden (Jeffrey), Thomas M. Strike (Sarah), Timothy Strike (Niza), and Sara Niemynski (Gregory). She is also survived by her 17 grandchildren: Jessica Carter Taglieri (Matt), Sharon Hayden Goebeler (Robbie), Christopher Carter (Maureen), Matthew Hayden, Patrick Carter, Laura Hayden, Kara Carter, Noah Strike, Brian Niemynski, Kelley Strike, Peter Niemynski, Jazzlynn Goldstein, Megan Niemynski, Stephanie Strike, Katelyn Strike, Jordan Strike, and Ryan Strike and one great-granddaughter Hayden Rose Goebeler; her sister Joan Altekruse of Kensington, MD her brother John Morrissey of Cohoes, NY and many nieces and nephews. Her brother Dr. William Morrissey of Burke, VA predeceased her.
A visitation will be held at 10am on Monday, October 3, 2016 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church (9705 Summit Avenue) in Kensington, MD. Immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD.
